Being Artsy
BAC, or Being Artsy Communications is the vision of one woman, it's Founder and President, Maddie Caesar. Whether it be feeding those who are hungry, helping with educational expenses, inspiring through a story, guiding through spiritual formation, or just being present in the lives of others caring that we all have the opportunity to live our best lives, we are there.
Being Artsy Communications is a concept created by Madiona Caesar to incorporate into a career her passion for helping others and her creative flair for writing poetry, music, short stories, articles, and various Public Relations writing. Initially created in 2005 to allow her to be better well-rounded in pursuit of her musical talent, she discovered other areas where the concept of what it is to be artsy applied. Not long after, other artists and persons with business dreams and goals began contacting her for her services.
About this time, she was attending New York University studying Public Relations while simultaneously searching for employment in the fast growing field. Never one to waste time, she began using what she learned in her classes in the outside world and quickly, and to the surprise of the head of the Public Relations and Communications department at NYU, who also happened to be her Public Relations Writing professor, received bylines for several published articles while still attending his class. As she achieved these writing assignments on her own and developed relationships with editors and Public Relations gurus, something innate prompted her to stop searching for the ideal job and to just be her artsy, creative self. The concept of "Being Artsy" now had a focus in communications.
Prior to all of this, Madiona recalled a conversation she had with Dr. Maya Angelou a few years earlier in which the famous poet, activist, and professor, who briefly mentored her, asked her while staring intensely into her eyes what she considered herself and why. She had answered the poet laureate and educator that she was at heart a writer, someone who wanted to share her words, to reach people's hearts and affect a change in the world, making it a better place. Dr. Angelou, while holding firmly to her arm and pulling her in closely, affirmed to Madiona that she indeed then, was a writer and told her to go write and not to ever stop. These strong words spoken directly to her by one of the most inspirational people of her time made Madiona begin contemplating exactly how she would go about influencing this change in the world she so passionately desired to inspire. The result was to just be herself...be artsy.
Still, it wasn't until a transforming encounter with God did she begin to understand His desire for her to utilize her gifts to glorify Him; to be an example of His love on earth. To equip, to inspire, to embrace, to educate, and to love others with the gifts she was given.
Being Artsy Communications' intention is to do just that; inspire you to be your best self and help you along the way. Maddie realizes there are many ways to reach people and desires that you find encouragement, positivity, support, and a smile when you read her work or interact with her organization. She believes, like her favorite philosopher, Socrates, in self-reflection and having individuals take a look inside themselves rather than searching for the answers from someone else. "Your gifts are in there," she often says. The goal is for a message to be received in every written work and for inspiration to fill every heart.
